The latest news and information from Otapawa Poll Herefords and the Robbie Family.

May 22 2009  Wow finally back onto the web site....Now that is big news. I hope to get all of the site updated as soon as possible and showcase a few new exciting bulls we have here at Otapawa. Regards Maria 

May 24 2007   Janne and Elina from Finland arrive for a 3 month working holiday.

March 2007 Red Charolais, Otapawa Baltic B1, placed third in all breeds bull calf at Feilding Show.

September 2006 First of the Aussie imported embryos are born.

July 2006  Donald and Marlene tour Scandinavia and England and thank all of their hosts for sharing their hospitality and showing them their cattle.

May 2006 NZ Perendale Tour and Conference visits Otapawa Station.

January 2006  Donald manages to land a 12 bale equivalent Bale of green hay on top of his head !!!   And yes, he broke his back/Neck  and has spent a lot of time in Hospital staring at the ceiling!

October 2005  Otapawa secured the purchase of a neighbouring block of land.

August 2005  Donald & Marlene Robbie return from the UK & Ireland and wish to thank all those breeders who showed them around their hereford Studs.

Brazilian Tour Group Visit Otapawa Stud and were impressed with the cattle and terrain we run them on, luckily the weather was great....  We thank you for your visit and wish you well for your journey home.

Otapawa have entered a  Poll Dorset ram lamb into the Australian Meat Sire Central Progeny Test, to be held in Victoria Australia beginning October 2005.

Otapawa Spot 3053 ET won the All Breeds Yearling Heifer Class at the Central Districts Feildays Show, from a strong class of 16. Snap shot at A New season Page.

Semen sold to Denmark, England, Australia and  Canada in High Voltage 3004 ET, and Otapawa Skymate 2046 ET.  Embryos sold to Bowen Poll Herefords from the Leonora P23 cow.  Otapawa Skymate 2046, Studbrook D'artagnion and Western Star semen sold to Canada and USA.

Our Grand Cow, Otapawa Leonora P23 succumbed to her injuries from an internal infection and was put to rest at Otapawa.  She was one of the most consistently productive females in New Zealand.  Embryos have been sold to Mexico and Australia.  She has 50 registered progeny to date with another 40 embryos in storage.

The 17th Annual on farm Bull Sale reached a new milestone this year, producing the highest average ever and the highest sale price at Otapawa.  Lot 1, Otapawa Tarzan 2072 sold to Matapouri and Waimarie/Otengi Studs for $25,500.  Also Lot 5 Otapawa Dr Jekyl 2114 sold for $16,000. Otapawa Skymate  2046 sells at the New Zealand National Sale 2004 for top price of $32,000 to Chris & Melissa Gibbs (Big River Poll Herefords) and John & Bernice Loveridge (Keelryn Poll Herefords).  Congratulations to the breeders on their investment in Otapawa Skymate 2046.

Post World Hereford Tour visited Otapawa. A wild and wet morning made sure that there was plenty of mud around for our international visitors.  A break in the rain was a welcome site for everyone.  On display were Sires, Dams, ET Calves, heifers, Sale bulls and our National Expo & Sale Entry bull.  A hot cuppa was needed by all.

Maria Robbie selected as a Youth Ambassador from New Zealand to the World Hereford Conference, Australia. 8 Young New Zealanders have been selected to attend the Conference sponsored by Merial and the NZ Hereford Association.

Studbrook D'artagnion V086 on his way to winning the All breeds Grand Champion, Meat & Wool Cup, Feilding March 2004. He weighed in at 1298 kgs, after running with 100+ females during spring.  A lucky boy!
